“IF A DOULA WERE A DRUG, IT WOULD BE UNETHICAL NOT TO USE IT” – DR. JOHN KENNELL
I have been an individual and family counselor for over 10 years, working with a diverse group of individuals who need support to rebuild and maintain positive relationships.
As I travel on my Doula journey, my personal experiences with infertility have been a natural transition to support mothers, partners and families in the journey to parenthood and beyond. I know first hand the impact of infertility on a woman’s sense of self worth and on the partner relationship.
I have been fascinated with childbirth and the transition to parenthood from a very young age. I believe that having the right support prenatally and throughout pregnancy can help build family connection and ease the transition to parenthood.
I am a certified Doula through Doula Training Canada ( formerly Healing Arts Learning Association). I have my BA(hons) in clinical psychology and Child and Youth Care Diploma. I am also have training in working with trauma, Postpartum mood disorders and mediation practices.

I completed my undergraduate degree in Early Childhood Studies at the university of Guelph-Humber, and while I enjoyed my classes and program, the courses that pulled at me the most were the ones focusing on infant development and pregnancy, and this is where I excelled. I studied ASL for five years and worked with Toronto Speech and Language for a year and focused on instructing/using Baby Sign in day cares and various settings.
I now live in Toronto with my husband and our three daughters (and three cats). When our first daughter was born, at home and caught by our midwives, it was a perfect birth experience for us. I was caught up in the empowering knowledge that my body was capable of something so amazing and strong, all by itself. I suddenly realized that I had tapped into what I wanted to do.
I have since had two more babies, and each time I was tossed back into that thrill of what a remarkable thing birth is.
I am a Certified Doula (with CAPPA) and I am continuing my training with Revolutionary Doula Training. My wish for every pregnant person is that he or she is able to birth their child in their own way, and to feel empowered by that experience. I love my job and I feel honoured to be supporting families at this pivotal and powerful time in their lives.

I believe in Social Justice: access to services and products for everyone regardless of gender, race, ethnicity, class, orientation, physical and mental health, ability or age. I believe that every person has a right to choose how and where to birth, and to make their own decisions for their baby and body.
I have a joint Honours Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Sexuality, Marriage, & Family from the University of Waterloo. I recently conducted an online survey titled “Sexuality Throughout Pregnancy” combining my love of birth work and sexual health education. I offer talks and workshops on Sex in Pregnancy and Parenthood to help parents navigate their sexuality in their new roles as co-parents.
I am apprenticing with Tracey Tief at Anarres Apothecary in Toronto, in the art of essential oils and natural healing, as well as training under Beth Murch in the Revolutionary Doula program in Kitchener, Ontario.
